Founder's Note

Sustainable Farmsteads, Brighter Futures.

At Kijani Farmsteads, We believe Africa’s future is rooted in the land and in the people who nurture it. Our work is about creating opportunities, strengthening communities, and building resilient, self-sufficient farmsteads that thrive for generations.

I was raised on a farm and saw firsthand the untapped potential of our land but also the power dynamics, poor planning and low productivity that made farming less attractive to my generation. I began asking: what if the farm was beautiful, well planned, organised and genuinely productive a place we would actually want to return to? I tried it myself. It worked. That became Kijani Farmstead, our model farmstead in Katumani, Machakos County, Kenya. A place where I live, Farm and grow with my family and community.

Visitors came, fell in love with the farm, and kept asking me to share what I had learned. That curiosity grew into a bigger purpose. I co-founded Kijani Farmsteads to take this experience across Africa helping young people, women, communities and farmsteaders turn land into productive, sustainable places to live, work and grow.
